South Trip 2010, Day 9

It’s the morning after a stroll through the French Quarter and I am still perplexed with the dynamics here. I truly thought Vegas the capital of Sin City, but this has it beat hands down. It is such a bizarre mix. Beautiful architecture and a photographers dream, but yet, filled streets with everything you can imagine, and an atmosphere that has you on edge unless you are 100% DRUNK…but let me back track….Yesterday was one of those days for the Dirla’s…we had planned on going to the French Quarter early afternoon and catch some sights and sounds, but the boss upstairs had different plans…

Nicholas’s couch was never secured from day one, and the dealer had “fixed” it 2 years ago. However, it was never solid and always had a slight wobble when the bed was extended, so we always were careful. Because to take the couch out would have been a project that I just didn’t want to tackle. Well yesterday morning Patty, Nicholas and I were looking out his window when the couch decided to finally pull from the floor once and for all FORCING me to do what I have been avoiding….6 Hours later, a lot of cursing, and several “war wounds” the couch is now properly secure…

After the dust settled we hung at the pool with a couple we met the night before, Dana, Tom and therir son Barrett. Nicholas and Barrett hit it off, as we did with Dana and Tom and enjoyed some laughs sun and watching the boys catch Gecko’s…We will definitely meet up with them at a campground in the near future..

It was now time for that stroll in the French Quarter…before we left we were briefed by the front desk (and everyone else actually) just how dangerous it is outside a specific area. The campground is only 4 blocks from the Quarter, but we were told DO NOT WALK…Needless to say during the cab ride over you can see why. Due to this all of us were a tad on edge, and I could not get comfortable walking around with the cameras which was a bummer because I could have gone CRAZY down here with pictures, and Patty could have done damage shopping.

Definitely a must place to see (not sure with kids), but I am confident I would not come back, unless I wanted to be single, drunk and run away from life for a while, or came down with an armed guard and all my gear to take photos…LOL.

We are off to somewhere today, not really sure…we have no plans from now until next Wednesday when we end up in Myrtle Beach. Should be a great adventure..

Have a blessed day!

  1. RV Repairman strike again. Good to hear you finally had to fix something that was not right from day one. I am surprised it lasted this long.

I am happy to see more pictures with the kids without having to beg for them.
Rainy here this morning, but we really need it.
