2013 West Coast Adventure, Day 04

Day 4 July 3rd , 2013:

Good morning and HAPPY 4th of July, from Sidney, Nebraska!  That’s correct, we kept going west.  After speaking to the tech a few times and running a few tests, they felt it safe to take a few days and finish our trip, then hit them on the way home.  So with an early start we headed west!  1st stop was at an Air Museum but it was too early, so we took a few photos outside then pushed onward.  Like the last time we came through Nebraska it amazed me just how flat, big, and open this state is all while climbing 3,000 feet.  We started the morning at 1,500 feet and are now over 4,500, very weird because it took 300 miles to do that, so it feels flat.

During the drive we stopped at a Walmart, and Go-Karts where Michael and Nicholas raced “Honey Boo Boo”…ok, not the real one but a real impostor.  Quiet funny!  After the Go-Karts, Michael found out he NAILED 5 of the 6 AP tests he took with “5’s”…the highest possible score which means he is going into College with 34 credits, or Sophomore status!  2 of the 6 classes, he didn’t even take the classes, he self-studied and took the tests…VERY COOL!!!!!  CONGRATULATIONS SON, WE ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU!

The family stayed in the front most of the 300+ miles, and we did a lot of laughing, eating snacks, gave some nicknames…hi CC…and watching Nicholas drink the best invention ever…”Squeezee Freezee”.  I have never seen him obsess over something as much as this simple Walmart special…he is making Slushies’ out of every liquid we have in the MH.  Very funny!

We ended what started out as a really bad day with a really awesome day at the 1st Cabella’s, the only Cabella’s with a campground.  When we settled in we walked to the store to once again do some shopping and eating.  There is a small eatery, nothing as big as the Cabella’s in Hamburg PA, but a nice little place.  We befriended the 2 people working, one thing led to another and we spent the next 40 minutes talking to Jeff who turned out to be the head Chef for all the 20 stores with restaurants.  We sampled Elk, Boar, Buffalo and learned a great deal about the region and the Cabella family and area.  Tomorrow, we are going to tour the area based on some areas he told us about.  Simply a great day driving and a great night at Cabella’s.  After dinner we went back and washed the MH, and re-wired our headlights to work a little differently.  Not to long after we finished we watched an ok Fireworks display across from the campground.  A very un-expected surprise!

Truly a really blessed and fantastic day with lots of smiles, laughs and good times!

So for now, I hope everyone has a blessed and safe 4th of July and enjoy whatever you do.
