West Coast 2009, Day 19

DAY 19 BLOG

Good evening or morning from San Francisco day 2! Today we ventured into the City and the infamous Golden Gate. We took the long way throughout the city which was truly a treat in many ways. Let’s say the boys are learning diversity…IN MANY WAYS.

San Francisco is absolutely beautiful from an architectural standpoint. We drove all around and went down that nutty curvy street, which was very cool. The Golden Gate was covered in a thick fog, so we were not “Blown” away as we were all expecting. However, the structure and the way it was built into the mountain is really something to see.

We chose to drive up to Coit tower which gave us an aerial view of several sites including Alcatraz which we all chose not to go to. The view from the tower was enough to get a good flavor, and after we did the Dirla thing and drove…we were in a car this time, but we did purposefully drive through the whole city to see as much as we could. A very enjoyable day and again this city is PACKED with things to do. On a side note, I still cannot believe People Park and live on these streets, some in excess of 45 deg. It is something to see it in person, the TV and movies does it no justice. If it were me, after working all day then dealing with those hills and tourists…lets say I would snap!

In closing, I can truly understand why people come here for weeks at a time. San Francisco is a very cool and different city.

Most likely this will be my last Blog until late Saturday maybe Sunday, as tomorrow is the beginning of the trade show with the show Friday. Patty and the boys will be “Chillaxin” at the hotel where the trade show is. I may do a post, but we will see…

Until the next Blog, please have a very blessed day!

  1. Dear SF Temp Hippies
Glad to see you enjoying the sights. More really great pictures.
Congratulations to Mike for his work on the blog in moving the history to the left and helping folks with a comment procedure. You were probably tire of hearing from just me...lol.
It is a god thing they do not get ice storms in SF or every one would be stuck at the bottoms of the hills.
P.S. Golf was great, weather was nice, beer was good. What more can I say. I have to get my enjoying closer to home. I need more vacation.
    Stay healthy.

  2. Jim,

It is cold enough to snow, and you are correct they weould be in BIG trouble in a traditional NY style ice storm.

I am glad the beer was cold and golf was good.

Did you by any chance get the FedEx yet?

    Peace love and happiness man...

  4. Hippies?! That's funny...that beast of an RV you are driving doesn't qualify as a hippy ride unless you paint on some flowers and peace signs.

I have been following your blog and have been enjoying the pictures and details of your cross-country adventure. I especially like the nice picture of the family in Vegas. It's good to see Fred getting some color in that pasty white skin. It looks like he has been working out as I don't recall his guns being that big...though its difficult to tell since I only see him when he wears a tailored suit.

Glad to see everyone having a good time and building great memories that you can always look back on when things get blue.

BTW...thanks Michael for your tutorial that allowed me to post this comment. You've got mad skills!

    Take care and enjoy.
