Good evening from Harriman Tennessee, on Watts Barr Lake
Day 31:
This was a simple drive day as almost the rest of the trip will be for the next 4 days. We arrived very late to Graceland, that’s right we camped across the street from Elvis’s house.
The day was a wash out as far as pictures as it was not a day of picturesque scenery. Sorry…
Prior to getting to the campground, we took Michael for his 14th Birthday to his favorite restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House. We literally picked the lay over based on this steakhouse. LOL!
I do have to say Patty and I took a walk after we settled in and strolled over to the adjacent Hotel…Heart Break Hotel. All I will say is OMG! There were some serious die hard Elvis fans…not a place for me…AT ALL!
Day 32
Today we awoke, to torrential rain…And that latest all the way across Tennessee. Thus the reason for zero photos of Graceland or the scenery. Well, even if it wasn’t raining, it was like driving through Pennsylvania, so I am not sure we would have taken any pictures, but it was sort of a bummer we could not see Elvis’s mansion in the day-light.
We found a RV Resort, by mistake on a gorgeous lake, so tomorrows if the rain ever stops we may get some good photos.
We cannot complain, as today has been the ONLY day it has rained worth mentioning this WHOLE trip…We have been so BLESSED for that and so many other things!
Until the next blog, please have a very blessed day!
Dear We-want-to-get-home Wanderers
ReplyDeleteInto everyones life a little rain must fall, as the saying goes. I miss the picutres, but forgive you since it would have been Elvis stuff. I am not one of those tru "Followers". I think he had great talent and wasted it through drug use. Not a trait I find admirable.
Looks like home is calling and you are hustling along. I hope your trip ending remains as exciting as the beginning of the trip. There is still alot to see and beatuiful ares to cover. Different than the West, but still wonderful to see.
Stay safe.
P.S. Going back to work still sucks. Work IS a four letter word.
Jim
Oh Jim...Home is calling and yes Work will be interesting!
ReplyDeleteWe have been hauling the laat few days, but that was always the plan. We ironically are exactly on schedule and are in exactly where we are supposed to be thereabouts...
It is pouring now, but it looks like a short storm, sky is bright...so I am hopeful we can see some sun today.. Also Tenn. is REALLY green!
Speak to you tomorrow.
