2012 West Coast Adventure, Day 17

Day 17 July 9th, 2012:

Good evening / morning once again from Zion Ponderosa, Utah

Ok, today kicked all our butts…we were supposed to take an easy hike to what they call the observation loop, but enter it from the upper portion on the East side…supposedly 6 miles, and easy….coming from the bottom up is 11 miles and grueling (I have a picture of the path from the bottom up). Needless to say it was more than 6 miles, and was not hard except for the up and down of 500 vertical feet, and it was 100 deg, and for me I had at least 35lbs of camera gear, which I didn’t use…There was a threatening storm that hindered me from pulling out all the gear…In the end the sites were spectacular, but the hike got the best of us all, and it was not the best “family” day…oh well…still a Blessed day to be able to be in this country which each time I see something bigger and brighter than the last is definitely Gods country!

Not sure the photos do the scene justice, but you should get a sense of the scale and beauty!

Over 6 miles of this.....

This is the storm that hounded us and dropped some rain a few times through the 3 1/2 hour journey

Just BIG!!!!!

Several thousand foot sheer drop, and yes there are NO rails...one slip and bye bye!

This is the bottom up path...OMG!

Nicholas and I liked this tree...

This is overlooking Zion National park...the windy trail is a road that you drive a tram on.  We will be doing this in 2 days..

Yoga anybody?

The Bro-Pose to end another Blessed day!
