WOW…didn’t realize it was Friday the 13th yesterday until just now as I typed the date. Well, anyway Good morning from Disneyland, Anaheim California!
Yesterday was a really awesome day…after the normal morning routine; we pushed out to Joshua Tree National Park. None of us expected what we saw…absolutely one of if not the coolest National Parks we have been through. You drive up 1,000 + feet, and out of nowhere there are piles of rocks, like a bunch of giant Tonka trucks decided to come play…there is absolutely barren land then a several hundred foot piles of rocks. Strewn throughout the early part of the park are sporadic Joshua tree’s, which in and of themselves look bizarre, but for the most part, just giant piles of rocks. Then as you climb and the landscape changes to more of lava rock feel, and the trees get bigger and denser, then at the top, after about 2,000 feet, you come to boulders, really BIG boulders…and you get to climb them. But the boulders are not what you think, up close they look like compressed coral, very cool and strange, TONS of fire ants, and lizards…and TONS of photo opportunities. I shot over 600 images…What a fantastic place!
The weather was awesome for a change so hiking the ~3 miles was great…about 80 Deg, cloudy skies, no humidity, actually perfect conditions…except we did get a little drizzle on the one hike, so my photo shoot was cut short since we needed to b-line back to the MH. This is definitely an easy park to get to, easy to traverse, and TONS to see! A must on anyone’s National Park bucket list!
After the park we headed back to civilization…near LA…ARGH…I like the area and drivers as much as I like Las Vegas! OMG, I forgot what it was like to drive in rush our traffic…after 1hr of bumper to bumper traffic we finally ended up at Disneyland…none of us have ever been here, so we are looking forward to this, especially since it wasn’t even on our agenda! We will only do 1 day of park…we all think that will be enough.
So today, we head out to hopefully see my cousin Mitch, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and the LA coastline…
Until the next blog…please have a Blessed day!
