Good morning from Zion River Resort on the other side of Zion Canyon in Utah. Yesterday was Day 3 of our 2nd 3 day rest stop!
The day started by leaving Zion Ponderosa, and heading through Zion Canyon. We entered through the East side, and as you drive up to the canyon you are at 6,500 feet elevation but the canyon still looms over you. As you enter you are informed of the NARROW roads and VERY SMALL TUNNEL in which you will be “Escorted” through because there is only 4” of clearance from the top of our MH to the tunnel in the center lane. Well, let me say that if I complain about Yellowstone, remind me what a daunting and treacherous road it was driving through Zion canyon. It was a 3,000 foot decent around 10% grade, about 6 inches between the Motorhome and the wall and if that was not enough, the switchbacks are 160 deg turns. YIKES! But it was fun as heck…
It is safe to suffice, it was a trip…but MY GOD was it worth it. The scenery once again is so different than anything we have seen. The canyon has formations and structures that were breathe taking. The drive was a total of 30 miles from the Ponderosa to the River resort, and it is was a treat for the short drive and to just relax after that awesome drive.
Nicholas of course needed to go swimming, but couldn’t due to the pool being closed, but he found himself a stream to play in.
Michael is still nursing the knee, and I don’t complain because it gives me an excuse to just rest. Patty is a trouper and she entertains Nicholas on all his excursions, when Michael and I are laid up resting. We make a great team!
Once again our connectivity is SO BAD!!!! They tell us the new Cell tower goes live in 60 days, oh well…sorry for this inconvenience…
Well, signing off so until tomorrow…Have a VERY BLESSED day!
Dear Wnaderers
ReplyDeleteI made it to PA and they are all out on a tour somewhere. Nothing as exciting as your adventure in driving skills 101 through the swithbacks and low tunnels. i bet it was pretty along with scary.
I need to go outside for a beer break after the drive.
Stay healthy & safe. Looking forward to tomorows adventure.
