Good evening from Kent, Washington…we finally made it! Some 4,300 miles under our wheels and ½ ways through our trip…after this stop we start heading east again.
Today was a weird day to say the least. We left the campground this morning after a night filled with rain and trains…yes, our site was backed up to a train that ran ALL through the night…so not much sleep for all.
As I said in yesterdays blog there was a giant water fall a few miles away which we stopped to see, and it was really tall and worth the stop. No sooner did we get on the road the sky’s opened to a deluge of rain, and it was like that for the next 5 hours…We attempted to go see Mt. Saint Helen, and after the 60 mile journey we were treated to…NOTHING…the storm, fog and rain were extremely bad. Oh well, we tried our best, and did actually get a few glimpses of it, but the ride up from what we saw is really a spectacular landscape. Extremely eerie the way the landscape has changed and you can see the reminisce of the 1980 eruption…the trees are unique and gives the overall look of the mountain something we have never seen, so it was worth the 100 mile detour.
Now as you all know I grade the states by the drivers…well Washington has un-seated Virginia as the absolute WORST drivers in the USA! I would sooner drive the 95 strip in the tip of Virginia than deal with these tree hugging loons! None, and I mean None of them can drive worth a darn! 150 miles, and I wanted to KILL people….so much for relaxing…seriously, the worst drivers ever! Hopefully the whole state isn’t like this, because if it is I may box the Motorhome up and fly home…LOL!
The weather has not allowed us to see the beauty of the state yet, but I am sure it will be there once the storms clear out. Tomorrow we hang and tour Seattle, should be interesting based on everything we have seen so far on the West coast.
So until the next blog, please have a Blessed Day!
All we saw of Mt. Saint Helen...Oh well!
This is the new growth after the explosion of 1980
