2011 North West Adventure, Day 19

Day 19 July 21th 2011:

Good evening from West Glacier, 2 miles from the West entrance from Glacier National Park, almost 5,000 miles we have driven since we left New Jersey 19 days ago. Seems like a long time, but to us the time has flown by, and it seems like the Diesel shower never occurred…even though I have Post Traumatic Syndrome every time I fill the tank.

Tonight, Patty wants to write the blog from here…so I pass the computer to her! This is a first….

Okay, where do I begin… I think I found my retirement destination. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A much needed rest from Seattle. This is the nicest most beautiful town that I have travelled. Very quaint. I am not sure of the winters as I here it is cold and the summer season is 3 months long. But, I think I could be here three of those months and find another home the other. You have to have a dream and mine just came closer to reality.

Today we left Coeur d’Alene (northern part of Idaho) and drove to Glacier National Park. We did make one stop at an amusement park for Nicholas! He is such a kid and we all have been trying to accommodate his adventurism with doing lots of off the nature cuff things for him. We have been to so many amusement parks that this one was a very relaxing one at best. This was considered one of Idaho’s largest amusements parks, and can you believe, we finished within 3 hours. We rode some very awesome roller coasters! It really makes me think “what the heck was I thinking” but none-the-less very happy I did.

Okay now for the good stuff. We have found out that we love the laid back very open National Park areas much more to than the cities that we have driven or seen. So we ventured from Idaho to Glacier at 4:00pm. I have to say that I would never drive cross country with anyone else but my “Spartan” aka, “Big Guy”, aka Fred. He is the only one that I trust to drive 300 miles through crazy, windy, highways and back roads with crazy cliffs. I really could not do it without him. I did need a cocktail after arriving to calm my nerves. If you ask Fred, he might just dump me on the side of the road. My nerves are a bit frazzled from high elevations and very narrow roads. I do thank him for always making me safe (and this time no cursing from him from crazy city drivers) just really breathtaking views. The kids think I am crazy and often send me in the back of the motorhome, but I did survive and well worth it. We have reached our destination 2 miles West of Glacier National Park and how gorgeous. Tomorrow, Fred will blog with some pictures to show how peaceful it is here. I do feel relaxed and can’t wait until the sun comes up over the mountain tomorrow (that is until we drive (rental car) high elevations). We have plans for hiking glacier, whitewater rafting (which has been my extreme favorite) and relaxing by the pool (just what Nick loves (and me too! – well needed vitamin D). Well, I have to sign off, Fred already asked me to not to be too long, oh well too late for that. If anyone knows me my nickname “chipmunk cheeks”, it just fills up and comes out. Well signing off for a while. Maybe Nick or Mike might blog next, you just never know, lots of love to all of our family and friends that have been following along with us.

So until tomorrow, please have a Blessed day!...HOWEVER…ANDREW S. PLEASE READ ON….

In closing a special thanks to Andrew! We miss you a ton, from the “Don”…
