Good evening all I do hope you had a great day! As you know we stayed here in Salt Lake City today and decided to see some of the sights…Well, we would have been better off staying in the motorhome all day. LOL…Ok, it’s not that bad, but it was sort of a wash out day.
We were told to go see a state park called Antelope Island which was supposed to have a tremendous amount of Wild Bison – our first clue should have been an island called Antelope loaded with Bison. The Island was in the middle of Salt Lake so we ASSUMED it would be a good sight, so after 45 minutes of yes…DRIVING we got to the Island (we had a rental car). There was a storm brewing in the background but the weather was bright and sunny on the Island. After paying our entrance fee and DRIVING some more we soon realized…IT WAS A TOURIST TRAP! Nothing there…we saw one Bison…and that is it! So after almost 3 hours we finally did what we should have done first, and go downtown…unfortunately by the time we pulled into town, after a brief stop at our favorite out west burger place In and Out, the “brewing” storm hit! So other than the Capital and Visitor center…we couldn’t take any photos…truly a wash-out of a day, since it is really a beautiful city from what we saw from the car. Definitely a re-visit city!
The highlight of the day was the traditional Ruth’s Chris Birthday dinner for Michael. As you all know for Michael's birthday we find the nearest Ruth’s Chris which on this trip happened to be here in Salt Lake, yes we are a tad early, July 26th is the actual date, but there is no Ruth’s Chris after here for several states…so we had our yearly traditional HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY MICHAEL dinner in downtown Salt Lake! As usual, other than the price, it was a FANTASTIC meal. We all laughed a tremendous amount, and you need to picture the goofy tourists in a VERY pompous restaurant…the only ones who like us are the staff. The patrons ALWAYS look at us with their noses up, which only feeds into our silliness, and tonight was no different! Great way to end a soggy but very Blessed day!
Tomorrow we are off to one of the last 3 states we are missing, Idaho…we are not sure how far we will get it will be based on how far I can drive, but we really would like to get near or past Boise! So wish me luck for a smooth drive, and we will speak to you God willing Tuesday…so until then, please have a Blessed day!
Antelope Island...NOT!
Found this place in Vegas...BEST burgers, we have ever had!
Minutes before the rain started.
By the time we got to the other side...sun was gone.
Visitor center...swirly clouds, never saw anything like it before
Right conditions, I would have LOVED to photograph Temple Square..very pretty..BTW, Nicholas took this photo...he and Michael are getting very good with the camera and have a great eye for framing shots.
LOL...just the way you should act in a place like this!
HAPPY EARLY 16th Birthday Michael!
